"Here I Am" 

March 21-23, 2008  Mobile, AL

Joey loves to play hide and seek.  As a two year-old, though, he doesn't play the game very well.  He loves to hide, but he can't stay in any one location very long.  Joey will run out of the room and scream, "Here I am."

Too often, God's people want to play hide and seek.  God is looking for people who will stand up and stand out as leaders.  Rather than hiding, our challenge is to boldly announce, "Here I am." 

Samuel was still a young boy when he thought he heard his mentor, Eli, call out for him.  Actually, it was the Lord calling Samuel.  Three times, Samuel heard the call from the Lord and ran to Eli, "Here I am".  Eli told him that he was not the one calling.  After the third time, Eli realized it was the Lord.  He challenged Samuel to listen to what the Lord had to say.  A fourth time, God called Samuel.  Samuel responded, "Speak for your servant is listening" (I Samuel 3:10).

God is calling leaders.  Are you listening?  Spend time in God's Word.  Listen to what he has to say.  Are you willing?  May God light a fire within you over the next year.  Be the leader who is ready to stand up and stand out.
